Dr. Kenneth Barshop attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill on the Robertson Scholarship and graduated with honors. He attended medical school at the University of Chicago on a full scholarship, graduated in the top quartile of his class and received the Richard Reilly Award for Excellence in Gastroenterology. He completed his postgraduate training at Harvard Medical School; Brigham and Women's Hospital for Internal Medicine and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center for Gastroenterology.
His interests include colorectal cancer screening, esophageal reflux disease, inflammatory bowel disease, small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO), and functional gastrointestinal disorders including irritable bowel syndrome. Dr. Barshop sees patients at the practice's Branford and Westbrook offices. In addition to performing endoscopies and colonoscopies, he is trained in banding to help reduce hemorrhoids. He lives in Fairfield with his wife and son.
